Babies seem to need so much stuff – especially when you do that first weekend away as a family.

The intention of this blog was to share tips that I and friends have received and also use it as a catch all so in years to come we can remember some of the smaller details of our life as a new family.  Hopefully along the way we’ll help other new parents make their lives just that little easier with some of the information we find.

Disclaimer – I am an over packer….. but I’m trying to get better!

Anyway – here’s what I packed:

CLOTHES

  • 6 x onsies
  • 5 x outfits
  • 8 singlets
  • hoodie/jumper and warm onsie
  • sunhat
  • warm hat
  • 4 x socks
  • 8 x bibs (at 4 months my little man was a real drooler!)

    NAPPY CHANGES

  • 32 Nappies
  • Wipes
  • Nappy sacks
  • Bum cream
  • Hand sanitiser

    BATHTIME

  • Bath wash
  • 4 face washers
  • towel
  • bath thermometer
  • Moo Goo Scalp Cream (we were dealing with a bout of cradle cap)
  • Comb

    BEDTIME

  • Travel Cot
  • 2 x sheets
  • 2 x sleeping bags (1 tog and 2.5 tog)
  • 1 Cellualar blanket
  • Baby monitor

    OUT & ABOUT

  • Pram
  • Baby Bjorn
  • Feeding Cover
  • 2 x muslins
  • Pram Blanket

    PLAYTIME

  • Playmat
  • Rings – I love playgro rings and used them to attach toys to the pram as well as something to play with.
  • crinkly lamaze elephant
  • book
  • Bouncer – we were driving and had the space, it was great to have somewhere familiar to put our little man down.

    GENERAL

  • Nappy Bag
  • Feeding Pillow
  • Spew Cloth
  • Dummies
  • Medescan thermometre – I love this because it can check the room temperture as well as baby
  • Sard soap stick – for any on the go washing that can’t wait until we get home – aka poonami
  • Panadol – just in case

So we had waaay to many clothes, but I’d rather have too many than not enough.  I forgot to pack socks and the stain remover stick – they’ve been added.  If you’ve ever tried to scrub out a poo using hotel soap, you’ll appreciate the tip!

I also wish I took a bigger blanket for the floor and a picnic rug for stops on the side of the road.

Have you travelled with your baby, what was on your packing list?
