Babies seem to need so much stuff – especially when you do that first weekend away as a family.
The intention of this blog was to share tips that I and friends have received and also use it as a catch all so in years to come we can remember some of the smaller details of our life as a new family. Hopefully along the way we’ll help other new parents make their lives just that little easier with some of the information we find.
Disclaimer – I am an over packer….. but I’m trying to get better!

PLAYTIME
- Playmat
- Rings – I love playgro rings and used them to attach toys to the pram as well as something to play with.
- crinkly lamaze elephant
- book
- Bouncer – we were driving and had the space, it was great to have somewhere familiar to put our little man down.
GENERAL
- Nappy Bag
- Feeding Pillow
- Spew Cloth
- Dummies
- Medescan thermometre – I love this because it can check the room temperture as well as baby
- Sard soap stick – for any on the go washing that can’t wait until we get home – aka poonami
- Panadol – just in case
So we had waaay to many clothes, but I’d rather have too many than not enough. I forgot to pack socks and the stain remover stick – they’ve been added. If you’ve ever tried to scrub out a poo using hotel soap, you’ll appreciate the tip!
I also wish I took a bigger blanket for the floor and a picnic rug for stops on the side of the road.
