“Baby’s First Night Home”

Tonight as you lie sleeping
For the first time in your bed,
There must be something lasting
And profound that should be said.

But as your face is gazed upon
Framed by your soft, dark hair
No words can tell or quite express
The feelings that we share.

The wait is finally over
You’re home, at last, to stay.
And there will always be the memories
Of the joy that filled this day.

With a love that’s running over
By the sight of you alone
Welcome home, dear cherished one,
At long last welcome home!

The first night home seems so long ago now, yet it feels like yesterday.  I found this poem on Scrapbook.com when I was looking for something sweet to send a girlfriend who just bought her baby home, it instantly took me right back to the moment I swaddled by baby, in his sleep suit that looked so big, laid him down ever so carefully in his bassinet that had been ready for ages and tucked him in tight.  I watched him for ages – so worried something might happen to my precious boy.

For My dear friend who is sharing her first night at home with her little boy.  Get ready beautiful, it’s one crazy ride, the best bit you get to spend it with a tiny person who will become your little mate in life.  He’ll make you laugh so much and he’ll also make you cry.  My wish for you is that your tears are tears of happiness now your heart is eternally on the outside of your body.  Big Love and I can’t wait for Baby cuddles x

What do you remember about the first night home with your baby?
