Tip 1 – Buy Bath Time Gifts

Every newborn baby will be having a bath! Therefore, a bath time gift is a great option. However, a lot of mums are worried about the toxins that can be found in baby products. A really thoughtful gift would be a toxin-free baby product as it shows that you have put some thought into it. Toxin-free gifts are far kinder to baby and their skin. This is a good gift as the mum will be grateful to you for buying a practical gift. It also means that she doesn’t have to worry about going to the shops and buying baby bathing stuff for a while.

Tip 2 – Buy Clothes

Babies always need clothes! We know how often they need to be changed because they have been sick or because they have had a nappy accident. Clothes are always a winning gift. However, instead of going for the usual newborn age, buy some clothes that are bigger. That way they have some nice clothes for when they hit the 3 month or 6 month stage. The mum will probably already have lots of newborn clothes but she probably won’t have many for when they get older. There are some lovely online clothes stores where you can buy some really cute baby dresses or a playsuit. There are plenty of options online so get browsing.

Tip 3 – Buy A Black And White Gift

A newborn baby will only see in black and white, until they are about 3 months old. This is why a black and white gift is a brilliant idea. You can buy black and white books that have lots of patterns and are perfect for stimulating and aiding visual development.

Tip 4 – The Basic Hamper

Sometimes we just have to get basic. Putting together a lovely hamper shows that you have put a lot of thought and care into the gift. Think about all the basics a new mum might need and fill that hamper. You could include, nappies, muslin cloths, bathing gifts, teether.  Essential Baby has a brilliant checklist on their site.

Tip 5 – Spoil Mum

When a newborn arrives, mum is often forgotten. Show her that this isn’t the case with a lovely hamper. Spoil her with some pampering gifts. You could buy her a magazine subscription, a lovely candle and perhaps some relaxing bubbles for the bath. Mum will appreciate the gift and it’s a nice reminder that she needs to remember to take time for herself. If you live close-by you could even do some batch cooking for mum and fill her freezer ready for her. That way she doesn’t have to think about cooking a meal from scratch.
