Baby Friendly Activities in Manly, NSW

Baby Friendly Activities in Manly, NSW

Having a baby in Manly, makes me feel like one lucky chicken.  There are so many great things to do to get out and about with your little one.

1. Grab the pram and walk from Manly around to gorgeous Shelly Beach.  If your baby is tiny, take your time with a coffee or meal at The Boathouse and soak in the view.  If your child is a little older and you need some wriggle room, grab a take away and head for the sand.  Wear them out with some sandcastle building before wandering up the hill to see if you can spot any whales or Dolphins.Photo: things-todoinsydney.com.au

2.  Bounce and Rhyme at Manly Library is a free session for babies from 3 months to 18 months old.  A delightful half hour of singing and playing with your baby.  Great if you’re a little light on with entertainment ideas with your new bundle of joy!  The website has a free download of songs from the bounce and rhyme class.

3. Manly SeaLife Sanctuary.  Great on a windy or wet day, to get inside and spend some time finding nemo and looking at all the colours and lights in the tanks.  As your baby gets bigger you can take advantage of the indoor soft play area or the penguin show.  The only downside here, is there is no cafe inside – so if you need a coffee or food, you need to grab something on the way in.oceanworldmanly1

4. Babykins or Minikins – at just $12 this is a real hidden gem, a one hour baby sensory class at St Matthews Church.  The ladies who run the program are gorgeous and it makes for a great morning out and some fresh songs and ideas for playing with your little one

5. Grab a picnic blanket and stretch out harbour-side on the grass for some crawling and general relaxing outsideManly

6. Lunch at the Steyne – I know its a pub, but these guys are really accommodating and can fit lots of prams – think perfect place for a mothers-group meet up!  There is an attached cafe which is great to grab a coffee and cake before the beer drinkers arrive.

7. Pull up a patch of sand on any of the local beaches and play, if it’s warm enough go for a swim or paddle.  The most baby friendly beaches are – Manly Harbourside, Little Manly, Collins Beach – not pram accessible and the South End of Manly is a gorgeous sun trap on the coldest of winter days.
